Trinity Guildhall Exams in Trad Music

Next week Trinity Guildhall will be conducting exams at the National Centre of Excellence in Traditional Music. This will include JAG Grade exams (grades 6 & 8) in clarsach which have been developed by Karen Marshalsay in conjunction with Trinity Guildhall. New technical work has been written specifically for traditional playing, the repertoire is all traditional and the supporting tests (sight-reading and improvisation) are the same as those taken by classical players. This is the first time that such high level exams have taken place in traditional music on clarsach.

Another development is Performer's Recital Certificates in Highland pipes, accordion, fiddle and ensembles. These are post grade 8 qualifications. Good luck to all the students involved!
